02 March New HouseI've now pretty much completed the move up to a 5 acer spot up north in Washington.
Here is one of my Neighbors: (true)
Here is my new place (without the snow):
So far, the move to the country has been quite the challenge. We had to get a tractor to plow the 3 1/2 feet of snow we got. The whole quiet thing is hard to get used to, and the 8-10 deer running through the property every day is pretty cool. The new shop is waiting to be built and the property needs a bunch of work done in the spring. The Vette is in storage with the mustangs and roadsters. So, all is well in the life. - Roadster 17 November Good Morning14 September Sad
Alex has died... 1976-2007 Just read this page in the news. Alex was one of the birds that made me want a grey too. It is a sad time for the parrot owners. Alex, a parrot that could count to six, identify colors and even express frustration with repetitive scientific trials, has died after 30 years of helping researchers better understand the avian brain. The cause of Alex's death was unknown. The African grey parrot's average life span is 50 years, Brandeis University scientist Irene Pepperberg said. Alex was discovered dead in his cage Friday, she said, but she waited to release the news until this week so grieving researchers could get over the shock and talk about it. "It's devastating to lose an individual you've worked with pretty much every day for 30 years," Pepperberg told The Boston Globe. "Someone was working with him eight to 12 hours every day of his life." Alex's advanced language and recognition skills revolutionized the understanding of the avian brain. After Pepperberg bought Alex from an animal shop in 1973, the parrot learned enough English to identify 50 objects, seven colors and five shapes. He could count up to six, including zero, was able to express desires, including his frustration with the repetitive research. He also occasionally instructed two other parrots at the lab to "talk better" if they mumbled, though it wasn't clear whether he was simply mimicking researchers. Alex hadn't reached his full cognitive potential and was demonstrating the ability to take distinct sounds from words he knew and combine them to form new words, Pepperberg said. Just last month, he pronounced the word "seven" for the first time. The last time Pepperberg saw Alex was Thursday, she said. They went through their back-and-forth goodnight routine, which always varied slightly and in which she told him it was time to go in the cage. She recalls the bird said: "You be good. I love you." She responded, "I love you, too." The bird said, "You'll be in tomorrow," and she responded, "Yes, I'll be in tomorrow." Looks like spring is in the air. I'm sure mother nature will surprise us with a frost or some snow here soon.
The vette is down to: replacing 2 calipers, fix a power steering leak, and mount the mirrors. Paint will come in the spring/summer. I'm looking forward to driving it soon.
The mustang is my next project. I have a line on a motor in Springdale. I'll check it out on Saturday. Carpet and motor would pretty much get it up and running around on it's own.
Been also looking at the house projects that need to be done. Course, the weather needs to be good for those...
Gracie and Zelda are doing great. Gracie had a minor setback with her feathers, but is now looking like she is letting them grow now. She is in a heavy molt now, but has lots of new ones coming in.
The garage is looking great. I got all the insulation up and now have the ceiling osb to put up. The pellet stove is sure working better...
As for me, I've been nursing my shoulder for 2 days now. I think I pinched something and now have pain... My luck. It feels better now, but only when I don't move it.. heh..
Have a great day, and I'll try to get this blog up and running ....

255 days till Christmas
23 January GracieI just had to post some more pictures of Gracie. She has 8 tail feathers coming in and her chest feathers are starting to grow back too. She hasn't been snipping them off anymore, so I think it was her first molt. I put a few more pictures of her up in the photo area.
The Vette "knocking" issue has turned out to be something simple. The flywheel cover was hitting the crank bolts. A few seconds with the tin snips and it should be fine. The tranny leak seems to be a simple O-ring. I should be able to put a new one in for 10 cents.
I put a new loft area in the garage. It'll have 24' x 24' more storage space and it should help with heating the place up faster.
332 Days until Christmas! - Roadster 01 January Happy New Year
Just thought that I'd get a post up here and quit being lazy. Kind of funny that hit 2500 views on my blog site. Probably 1900 are me checking the site...heh... Gracie and I had a wonderful Christmas. Of course, I ate too much and I'm sure it will take me a few months to get rid of the weight. New Years was ok until I had to go to work just before the 12 midnight madness hit. God sure knows how to throw a wrench into things... I've been working in the Garage, putting up a loft in the 24' X 24' area that didn't have one. That should let the pellet stove heat the place up a bit faster. Course, I about died when I figured out that it'll cost me $500 in insulate the new ceiling. I can't believe the price of things now. They have just killed the little guys. The number just went over 3000 GI's killed so far in Iraq... sad... On a better note: Only 358 more days till Christmas! - Roadster 12 December December
After a day of work, it is always great to come home to Gracie. She has 1 full tail feather now, but has been snipping off her grey feathers. So, after a few conversations to the parrot people, we think that she is doing that because of the dry air. Gracie now gets sprayed and we added a humidifier to help with the air. So far, it seems to be working. She turned one year old in November and she is saying lots of words and making lots of sounds.
As for the Vette? Well, I have it put together, and have identified a few parts I need to finnish her. The basics will cost me $260 to get it street legal and I'll be painting it in the spring.
Jennifer is still looking great. Can't wait to see her again soon...
The British military has reported 126 deaths; Italy, 33; Ukraine, 18; Poland, 18; Bulgaria, 13; Spain, 11; Denmark, six; El Salvador, five; Slovakia, four; Estonia, Netherlands, Thailand, two each; and Australia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Romania, one death each. On a brighter note: Tayla turned 17 last week.... (Happy B-Day) Mom, 13 Days till Christmas. As for everything else, I got my Christmas shopping done and I'm looking forward to all the family time that we get with the holidays. Every year seems to bring something new. - Roadster
12 November Jen and I at Grand Coulee Dam
Jen and I on vacation at Grand Coulee Dam Just got back from a vacation around Washington. Jen sure loves it over here. Every time we spend some time out doors, she always has a hard time going back to work. Grand Coulee is sure a great place to stop and look at a great wonder. The dam is huge! Take a look at this picture. It was 8 pictures stiched together:
Hope everyone is having a great time. Jen told me to post "Hello" for everyone... - Roadster
23 October Montana 2006Another vacation came and gone. I had a great time in Montana this last week. I got to spend a few days at a hot springs. Let me tell you, the beer sure tastes great when you know they can't call you into work! I was told that there was a great waterfall just a 1 1/4 mile up the mountain, so I took my brother and dad on this "hike". Well, after a long, steep, climb, we get to this waterfall area only to find a trickle of water. Hell, I could have pissed a bigger stream! Oh well, the picture above was from on top of the waterfall. That, fortunately was worth the climb. We also got to go to the 10,000 silver dollar bar. Of course, there are 46,785 silver dollars now... That was pretty cool looking at all the coins on the wall. Gracie is doing great. She is sitting on my shoulder pestering me again, so I'll end it here. Mom, only 63 days until Christmas. - Roadster
12 October October UpdateJust wanted to give an update:
Me
I've been working a lot lately, so I decided to get away for a few small trips. The first one was to Dry Falls here in Washington. If you haven't seen it, take some time to drive up there in the off months. It was wonderful to get out of town for the day and look at the cliffs and lakes...
On the 17th, I turn the big 40. Is that when you are supposed to feal old? Hell, I've been feeling old for quite some time now. Getting out of bed in the morning is pretty hard already.
Cars:
I've been putting a lot of time into the Vette. I spent all day on the brakes a few days ago. The calipers had brake fluid that turned to jelly and rusted the insides. What a pain there. I might have to buy new ones. I put the kit in all of them anyway. We'll see.
The others just sit there until I can get some money together for the many parts that I need.
Gracie and Zelda:
They are doing great. Zelda is a bit agressive, and Gracie is still a snuggler... Go figure.
Jennifer:
Looking great as usual. Looking forward to seeing her jump into her career.
Well, I'm off to work again.
Mom, 75 days until Christmas....

06 September TaylaTayla Another day goes by and I have to humor myself at the expense of another person. Today's blog post is dedicated to a person who has given me the name of "Bacon". (She got it from the job)
She is my favorite little girl, (who by the way isn't little anymore). She is living in this neighborhood, just down the street. I guess you could say I've unofficially adopted her, because I don't have a daughter of my own. (They do look like lots of trouble to me) Well, she just got her license. Ouch... (Stay off the sidewalk around her) Of course, she likes Mustangs. One day I just happened to catch her driving this:
Ok, so I was willing to overlook the fact that she was driving a Pinto. That is kinda like a Mustang, right? However, this next picture tops the cake:
I guess she can fall in love with anyone she wants, but he better not hurt her. Her dad and I will kick his ass.... So, Tayla, if you are reading this, you know you are my favorite....Stay out of trouble. And if you find yourself in it already, you know you can always call me if you can't get a hold of your mom or dad... Love ya bunches... - Bacon
28 August Roadster #2Spent some time taking apart the second roadster. I took down one of the Mickey Thompson tires from the loft and put it up to the shell. Looks pretty cool. I also took the rear end I had and put it under the frame to see if it would work in the future. Looks great too.
So then it was rivet drill time. I must have drilled out 50 rivets to get the thing taken apart. here is how it looks now:
Have a great day... 117 days till Christmas - Roadster
18 August Another week - Me -
Another week has crossed my life and I'm looking forward to the weekend. It is amazing how a persons view of the world changes with age. I was playing with hot wheels not too long ago, it seems. Now I play with the real ones.
Time has seemed to go faster too. A weekend used to last a long time. Now, it comes and goes very quickly.
I was looking at a few old pictures of the family, smiling as the photos brought back some memories I'd forgotten a while ago. I do miss those people in my life that have passed on to something better.
One thing that seems to really bug me now is all those people in my generation that are showing up with major medical issues. Back in the hot wheel days, a "major issue" was a scraped knee or a fat lip. Now we deal with surgeries and crap like cancer. I suppose that is what life is about.
So, take a few minutes this morning to remember what you had back when, smile and begin your day knowing that time will continue, whether you want it to or not...
- Update on Gracie and Zelda -
Zelda is going in to his maturity faze. He seems to be protective around his cage. If your not careful, he will bite pretty hard. Away from the cage, he is a saint.
Gracie still looks like a "duck butt" parrot. Still no tail. She is now learning to meow like a small kitten when we ask her where the kitty is. It is amazing how smart she is...
- Update on the Cars -
The mustangs are sitting.
The Roadsters are almost all taken apart and up in the loft.
And the corvette is waiting for brakes ($400) before I can drive it. So it is sitting too...
- Other -
Sean, we are praying for your recovery. Let us know if there is something we can do...
Brian, a Hemi is the only way to go.
Mom, 127 Days till Christmas

Looking good as ever...
Have a great day!

03 August Mid Life Crises...
They say a man goes through a mid life crises sometime around 40. They say that he'll go get a new woman, and a sports car. Someone told me that I just went through one... I got a corvette and the new woman in my life was Gracie. Of course, i never thought my woman would have a "duck butt". Gracie has chewed off all of her tail now. Almost think that she doesn't like the color red by the way she is attacking it like a bull.... The rest of her looks great. Summer is going way too fast but I guess that is how it goes. 142 days till Christmas... - Roadster
18 July Full of Fun
Oh my eye... Got nailed by a bee just under the eyebrow and woke up to it swelled shut. Killed the fun I was going to have today.
Gracie is doing great. Look at the picture below and guess what she has been doing:
She has broke all of her tail feathers and chews them off when her butt feals funny. Silly bird. Oh well, everything is going great here. I hope everyone is doing ok too...

27 June Slowing down for summer
Another week of summer. Looks like it will be upper 90's today. Been camping and playing at the "Silverwood" theme park. (pic above)
As always, we pray it gets hot outside and when it gets here, we say it is too hot. Go figure....
Gracie grew all her tail feathers in and chew half of them back off. Not too sure what she is thinking....
Been pretty busy here with work and play, so I thought that I'd post a new one this morning before I got too busy again. Hope everyone is doing great.
178 days till Christmas!... (smile for mom)
-Roadster 06 June More PartsAnother coffee cup emptied, another e-bay purchase. I sat in the vette and couldn't find the switch for the windshield wipers. Come to find out, the switch is on the dash with the A/C vents. (another piece I couldn't find.) So, last night I got one on e-bay. Here it is:
I'm finding it a challenge putting together a car that I havn't looked that much into. Corvettes are pretty cool, but I've never even sat in an old one. Oh well....
Getting another air compressor today. It will help add air to the other one for the tools that need the high volume. Painting should be a snap now.
Going to be 80's here today, and I'm looking forward to spending some time at the lake.
2000 hits today. It sure didn't take that much time get them.
Hey Mom, 202 days till Christmas! -AND- Only 117 days LEFT of Lake Time. Going too quick? Hope your feeling better so you can get back out there.
Coffee cup is empty again, have a great day...
- Roadster 05 June Good MorningJust wanted to tell everyone good morning. After the rain yesterday, I was glad to see some blue in the sky when I looked out the window this morning.
Another Monday. More work.
I did get the parts that I needed off of e-bay last night for the vette:
Not bad for $25.00. If you were to get them out of a catalog, it would have cost me over $400.00. I'm not going to spend that type of money on a 1976 car.... heh... It's only a corvette...
Anyhow, the coffee in the cup is gone, time to go to work...
